SEVERE WEATHER THREAT OVERNIGHT FRIDAY MARCH 24th

Risk Level 2/5 Issued By NWS Storm Prediction Center

As warmer temperatures set in for the weekend, they bring a chance of severe weather to our area for the overnight hours of Friday night into early Saturday morning.

Timing: 2am - 6am Saturday Morning

Area: All of Putnam County

Threat: The primary threat is damaging winds and heavy downpours that could potentially cause brief localized flash flooding. Hail and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued a risk level 2/5 for our area.

Response Actions:

  • Stay weather aware overnight Friday night into Saturday morning. Connect with Putnam County EMA on social media for updates.
  • Ensure you have multiple systems for receiving weather alerts that will wake you up if a warning is issued while sleeping.
  • Ensure NOAA weather radio batteries are good as power could be knocked out by wind damage before storms occur.
  • Have a plan and be sure everyone in your home/workplace knows the plan.
