Putnam County Solid Solid Waste and Recycling

PSA: The Putnam County Solid Waste Department will be closed on Monday, September 2nd, 2024 for Labor Day. This includes the Recycle Center, Transfer Station, Convenience Centers, Household Hazardous Waste Facility, and Landfill. There will be no community service. We will reopen on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024. Have a safe and great holiday!

 

Tipping fees update beginning August 1, 2024:

Transfer Station: $50.00 per ton

Landfill: $50.00 per ton

Shingles: $100.00 per ton

 

Helpful Information from this Department:

  • Commercial waste goes to the transfer station.
  • General public waste goes to the convenience sites.
  • Construction, demolition,yard waste (brush) and all tires(off the rim) go to the landfill.
  • Convenience sites are open from 6:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays,Wednesdays,Fridays, and Saturdays.
  • 3:15 p.m. is the cut off time for unloading at the transfer station and landfill.
  • Deceased animals are accepted Monday through Friday before 10:00 a.m. at $50.00 per ton. (pro-rated)
  • To file a formal complaint, you must come to the main office located at 1846 S. Jefferson Ave, Cookeville, TN 38506 and fill out a formal complaint with your name, address, telephone number, and nature of the complaint. The complaint will be reviewed and appropriate action will be taken.
  • Brush will no longer be accepted at Bangham Convenience Center. (as of 7/14/22)
  • No out of county waste will be accepted at the convenience sites, transfer station or the landfill.
  • No double-axled trailers are allowed at the convenience centers at any time.
  • Convenience centers are for residential household trash only. No commercial waste is allowed at any site other than the transfer station.

Pure Carbon Paper or Thermal Fax Paper

* Latex paint can be completely solidified and safely be discarded in your household trash. See downloadable flier for latex paint disposal.

*Oil based paint should be took to the Hazardous Household Waste Facility.

Putnam County Household Hazardous Waste Facility is
located at 2101-A West Jackson St, Cookeville,TN 38501. The phone number to the facility is (931) 400-0622.

*No Materials accepted without personnel present.
