Senior Citizen Centers
Putnam County AARP Chapter #3784 meets at 1 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month at the Cookeville Senior Citizens Center located at 186 S. Walnut Ave. The Tennessee Senior Medicare Patrol, who assist with Medicare and TennCare/ Medicaid questions, are located at the Monterey Senior Center from 10 a.m. until noon the first Wednesday of each month. Baxter Senior Center is open every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. They offer a full range of activities including exercise classes, health screenings, health education, lunches, telephone reassurance, food pantry, bingo and other games. Dance lessons are on Tuesday nights from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and dances are on Thursday nights from 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. For more information please call 931-858-5657.
The Putnam County Senior Citizens Cookeville Activity Center offers a variety of programs including, exercise, chair yoga, chair pilates, table tennis, chair volleyball, pickleball, hula-hoop, drawing, wood carving, bingo, beginning and intermediate guitar and Spanish lessons, line dance lessons, bridge club and video Zumba!
