STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS SATURDAY NIGHT 12/9/23

Damaging Winds, Large Hail, Heavy Downpours, and Low Chance of Tornadoes

The National Weather Service has placed our area under a Slight Risk (level 2/5) for severe thunderstorms Saturday night 12/9.

Main Concerns:

  • - Damaging winds
  • - Large hail
  • - Heavy downpours, with rain near 2 inches, can cause brief flash flooding
  • - Very low chance of brief, quick spin-up tornadoes, mainly South of I-40

Timing:

  Storms are anticipated in our area between 5pm and 10pm Saturday evening

  • - Ensure your NOAA weather alert radio has fresh batteries and is turned on
  • - Have a plan to protect you and your family/friends
