WINTER WEATHER OVER THE WEEKEND INTO NEXT WEEK JAN 23

A mix of snow and ice is expected this weekend. Here's a look at current thinking for timing.

 

A major winter storm is expected to impact the area this weekend. Highest snow totals will favor areas north of I-40. Significant impacts will include dangerous travel, power outages, and possible downed trees.
 

 

A major winter storm is expected to impact the area this weekend. Highest probabilities for ice accumulations favor south of I-40. Significant impacts are expected, including dangerous travel, potential power outages, and possible downed trees and branches.

Along with snow and ice accumulations, temperatures will free-fall this weekend. The coldest mornings will be Monday and Tuesday with widespread single digit temperatures. This long period of sub-freezing temperatures may prolong winter storm impacts into early next week.
