The Putnam County Emergency Alert System is a unified notification system that contains alerts for Putnam County (including the municipalities of Algood, Baxter, Cookeville, and Monterey) and Tennessee Tech University.

You will be directed to the Smart911 login screen where you can register to create a new account, and choose the alerts you wish to receive. If you have an existing account, click Sign In to access your existing settings. If you have forgotten your password, the system has a helpful Password Reset link to help you regain access.
**NOTE: You do not have to complete the entire Smart911 profile to receive alerts. You only have to complete a new profile up to the point where you check the boxes for alerts you wish to receive, then save.
You have the option to choose which emergency notifications you wish to receive.
The following text lists are available for signup via text, email, and voice call:
- Weather Warnings - Putnam County, TN - Only WARNINGS from the National Weather Service for Putnam County. Watches and Advisories are not broadcast to this group.
- Weather Watches and Warnings - Putnam County, TN - All NWS Watch and Warning notifications (example: Severe Thunderstorm Watch or Warning, Flood Watch or Warning, Tornado Watch or Warning)
- Weather Detailed Information - Putnam County, TN - Advanced notification about severe weather outlooks and risk categories, winter weather storm details, and other expected impacts for local weather events. This list will receive notifications in advance of arriving weather systems, based on National Weather Service forecasts and products.
- Putnam County, TN Traffic and Community Events - Significant traffic impacts or community events affecting access or traffic in populated areas of Cookeville and Putnam County.
- Tennessee Tech University Alerts - Alerts for faculty, staff, parents, and visitors of Tennessee Tech.
Each node in the system has unique alerting criteria and audiences. The following nodes are the primary methods for receiving emergency alerts.
